Nigerian Bourse sheds weight, closes lower by 0.26%

It was a bearish session on the floor of the Nigerian equity market on Wednesday as the All Share Index dropped by 0.26% to close at 47,360.79 points against the previous close of 47,482.22 points on Tuesday.

The market capitalisation closed at N25.525 trillion, shedding N66 billion from the previous close of N25.591 trillion recorded in the last session.

Aggregate volume of trade dropped by 24.45% to 279.95 million units in 5,620 deals, valued at N4.16 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 15 stocks gained against 34 that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Royal Exchange with 10.00% growth, led the gainers table to close at N1.65 from the previous close of N1.50.

SEPLAT and MULTIVERSE among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.33% and 9.09% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Niger Insurance, International Breweries and RTBRISCOE among other 31 stocks shed their share prices by 10.00%, 9.73%, and 9.09% respectively.

Volume Drivers

UCAP traded about 28.3 million units of its shares in 571 deals, valued at about N374 million.

Access Bank traded about 17.65 million units of its shares in 192 deals, valued at about N181 million.

Zenith Bank traded about 17.5 million units of its shares in 410 deals, valued at N470.7 million.
