Market sheds N569bn as NGXASI closes lower by 1.96%

The equity market on Monday closed lower as the All Share Index was down by 1.96% to settle at 51,952.99 points from the previous close of 52,994.13 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 1.97% to close at N28.300 trillion from the previous close of N28.869 trillion, thereby shedding N569 billion.

An aggregate of 1.7 billion units of shares were traded in 4,286 deals, valued at N4.79 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 4 equities appreciated in their share prices against 28 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

CAVERTON led other gainers with 8.25% growth to close at N1.05 from the previous close of N0.97.

NAHCO, TRANSCORP and Sterling Bank also grew their share prices by 3.06%, 2.19% and 1.35% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Airtel Africa led other price decliners as it shed 10.00% of its share price to close at N1,198.00 from the previous close of N1,331.10.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance and Royal Exchange among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.09% and 9.09% respectively.

Volume Drivers

TRANSCORP traded about 1.5 billion units of its shares in 162 deals, valued at about N2 billion.

Zenith Bank traded about 44 million units of its shares in 529 deals, valued at N1billion.

UBA traded about 20.9 million units of its shares in 307 deals, valued at about N179.5 million.
