Stock market dips further by 0.04%, sheds N12bn

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Thursday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined marginally by 0.04% to close at 53,170.73 points from the previous close of 53,193.98 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.04% to close at N28.665 trillion from the previous close of N28.677 trillion, thereby shedding N12 billion.

An aggregate of 318.4 million units of shares were traded in 4,345 deals, valued at N3.34 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 15 equities appreciated in their share prices against 17 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

University Press led other gainers with 9.43% growth to close at N2.90 from the previous close of N2.65.

Cornerstone Insurance and Ellah Lakes among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.93% and 7.89% respectively.

Percentage Losers

C&I Leasing led other price decliners as it shed 8.57% of its share price to close at N3.20 from the previous close of N3.50.

FTN Cocoa and Ikeja Hotel among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 8.33% and 3.23% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Transcorp traded about 165 million units of its shares in 207 deals, valued at about N225.9 million.

GTCO traded about 22.2 million units of its shares in 461 deal, valued at N493.1 million.

UBA traded about 19.1 million units of its shares in 160 deals, valued at N148.6 million.
