Stock market extends Gains, Closes 0.61% higher

The Nigerian stock market on Thursday extended the bullish trend as the All Share Index grew by 0.61% to close at 54,646.38 points from the previous close of 54,315.53 points.

The Market Capitalisation appreciated by 0.61% to close at N29.769 trillion from the previous close of N29.589 trillion, thereby adding N180 billion.

An aggregate of 142 million units of shares were traded in 2,651 deals, valued at N1.8 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 28 equities emerged as gainers against 10 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

MRS led other gainers with 9.88% growth to close at N27.80 from the previous close of 25.30.

MCNICHOLS, BUAFOOD and Cornerstone Insurance among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.09%, 8.87% and 8.33% respectively.

Percentage Losers

THE INITIATE Plc led other price decliners as it shed 9.09% of its share price to close at N0.40 from the previous close of N0.44.

NEIMETH and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.45% and 6.15% respectively.

Volume Drivers

UBA traded about 32 million units of its shares in 136 deals, valued at N272 million.

Zenith Bank traded about 11.5 million units of its shares in 199 deals, valued at N292 million.

GTCO traded about 8.6 million units of its shares in 184 deals, valued at N217.9 million.
