Stock market extends weekly gain by N197bn, returns 0.73% WtD

The Nigerian stock market last week closed on a bullish note as 43 stocks led by VITAFOAM advanced in their prices.

The All Share Index grew by 0.73% week on week to close at 50,045.83 points from the previous close of 49,682.15 points.

The Market Capitalisation grew by 0.74% week on week to close at and N26.994 trillion from the previous close of N26.797 trillion.

An aggregate of 1.195 billion units of shares were traded in 19,305 deals, valued at N12.9 billion.

The market breadth closed positive as 43 stocks emerged as gainers against 21 stocks that declined in their share prices.

TOP 10 GAINERS

VITAFOAM Plc led gainers’ chart last week with 16.26% growth, closing at N23.60 from the previous close of N20.30.

ETRANZACT, Fidelity Bank, GUINNESS and NGXGROUP grew their share prices also by 16.23%, 11.11%, 9.88% and 9.73% respectively.

Other top 10 gainers include: TRANSNATION WIDE EXPRESS (9.52%), MULTIVERSE (9.17%), FCMB (9.06%), PHAMERDEKO (8.57%) and STANBIC (8.20%) respectively.

TOP 10 LOSERS

UNILEVER led other price decliners, shedding 9.63% of its share price to close at N12.20 from the previous close of N13.50.

MCNICHOLS, CWG, JOHNHOLT and RTBRISCOE shed their share prices by 9.46%, 9.09%, 8.99% and 8.57% respectively.

Other top 10 price decliners include: HONEYWELL FLOUR (-6.99%), UNIVERSITY PRESS (-5.29%), UPDC (-3.77%), MUTUAL BENEFITS Assurance (-3.33%) and CADBURY (-2.99%) respectively.
