Stock market rises by 0.67% on price appreciation in Airtel Africa, others

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Tuesday closed on a positive note, driven by 3.25% growth in the share prices of Airtel, Nestle and other stock on the green table.

The All Share Index rose by 0.67% to close at 52,701.31 points from the previous close of 52,348.82 points.

The Market Capitalisation appreciated by 0.67% to close at N28.705 trillion from the previous close of N28.513 trillion, thereby gaining N192 billion.

An aggregate of 228.5 million units of shares were traded in 3,681 deals, valued at N4.4 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 21 equities appreciated in their share prices against 15 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

UPDCREIT led other gainers with 10.00% growth to close at N3.30 from the previous close of N3.00.

MRS and CHELLARAM among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.93% and 9.92% respectively.

Percentage Losers

UPDC led other price decliners as it shed 6.93% of its share price to close at N0.94 from the previous close of N1.01.

GEREGU and Linkage Assurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.71% and 6.38% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Sterling Bank traded about 76.7 million units of its shares in 44 deals, valued at about N118.9 million.

GTCO traded about 16.7 million units of its shares in 263 deals, valued at N401.9 million.

Zenith Bank traded about 11 million units of its shares in 285 deals, valued at about N276 million.
